As usual, I was late in picking up a card for Father’s Day for my dad because I have detachment issues when I leave my computer for long periods of time :-P Kidding ( a little) Well as I ventured to pick through what was left of the Fathers Day Cards I promised myself that I would pop back by to sift through Gift Cards that my father would use and not toss aside to the pile of useless gift cards that he has from places that he would never visit. So I found the perfect card which involved humor and giving credit to my dad for my imaginary brilliance. LOL
Now it was time for the elusive search for gift cards, First choice was Home Depot, the second was, well I didn’t know but was willing to seek and find. I found a Dunkin Donuts card which is better than Home Depot. EXCITED! As I was searching I notice an entire section of gift cards for Zynga Games, Famville, Zooville and more. My question is why would one need a gift card for a free Facebook Game. I do admit to having a temporary addiction to Farmvile that was cured by grad school. I do not remember anything that required payment of any sort. What would one buy with a gift card? Is it now a requirement to play. So I guess I’m really wondering if all online games will cross to outside of the scope of the original context of the game to the gift card business? If so as players will is soon be a requirement to pay to play. Is this the NEW form of Gamification?
As usual, I welcome comments, good, bad, ugly or indifferent. So feel free to comment, catch me on Twitter or post directly to my Facebook Wall.
Headhunter: in search of a Social Media Expert for a HUGE Global client.
Does not want:
The following is needed:
Must have a strong presence on ALL relevant Social Media Channels
Must know how to blog using different platforms and have a strong presence on:
Must have the ability to Prove that they are indeed a Social Media Expert. How can a person Prove it? How can employers find people to meet this criteria BEFORE hiring them? How do they scan a persons online credentials. Klout? Peer Index? Information BEYOND Klout is needed.
If I’m a Headhunter or Recruiter I am heading to Empire Avenue, YUP it’s more than just a game. I’ve seen enough recruiters, headhunters, HR people and Venture Capitalists entering the game to know that they are viewing Empire Avenue as an opportunity. Some people may think of it asFarmville for Social Media but I guarantee venture capitalist are not hanging out looking to feed cows or water crops, even if Lady Gaga has teamed up with the Farm game.
On Empire Avenue the recruiter has an opportunity to view the entire network of many candidates, visit the channels, read the blogs, check the Twitter feed and to see how the channel is scored from 1-100. That is HUGE.
So for me,when it’s time for me to partner with someone, I will be checking my network on Empire Avenue first.
As usual, I welcome comments, good , bad, ugly or indifferent. So feel free to leave a comment here or post directly on my Facebook Wall.

I hear so many people going on and on about how their privacy has been invaded by technology, Facebook, a QR code, a Chimi Changa from Taco Bell. What the HELL people! You have all of your information displayed on Facebook for everyone to see. You share pics of your husbands toe fungus, of your kid and dog eating dog food from the same bowl, and you update your status every time you butter a bagel. SERIOUSLY, if you are this person your privacy is compromised by …umm wait…go look in the mirror….yeah YOU. Privacy as you know it is over
If you are interested in regaining your privacy take the following steps:
- Turn off your computer, then donate it to a school to get a tax write off
- Donate your cell phone to a women’s shelter
- Sell your 82″ Flat screen on Ebay
- Go get a rustic mountain cabin, with no showers, no refrig and no electricity for your flat iron or Wii.
Until then….STHU..I say that with love.
I welcome comments, good, bad, ugly on indifferent so feel free to leave them here or directly on my Facebook Wall.
Empire Avenue has become very popular within the past few weeks. I believe that some of the driving forces are the groups that are behind the scenes that really have a passion for the the game. I would go so far as to say its the family like structure behind the company.
Empire Avenue can really overwhelm the n00b, especially the gamers that are fresh off the Farmville kick. Empire Avenue is no Farmville as I continuously stated.
There are a few Facebook Groups that are working with Empire Avenue Players to ensure that they get the full Empire Avenue experience.
The First group which are pioneers in regard to Empire Avenue Facebook Groups, is #SocialEmpire and was the brainstorm of Ryan Zeigler who pulled in a few strong Social Media peeps to realize his vision of creating an avenue to discuss the Social Media aspects of Empire Avenue. This group has an open Empire Avenue based community/ group, Twitter following, Facebook Page and Blog. The Facebook Group #SocialEmpire has almost 500 members. The group has visitors from some of the more elite social media players, Chris Pirillo and Jeremiah Owyang as well as members from Ford Motor Company, Intel, Mashable and Nokia.
This group, in conjunction with the #SocialEmpire Network resources listed below, is to be used as a means of developing and extending your Empire Avenue relationships to your other social networks and even into “real life” via enhancing business contacts, collaboration, and general goodwill among its members.
Additional groups have evolved to create a great balance of Social Media, Game Dynamics, Empire Avenue Tips and a new Discussion based Chat Group.
The Game Dynamics group has the scoop on how to really play the game successfully and is the brainstorm of the [X] Brand which are pioneers of the game and some of the original Beta Team of Empire Avenue. X Bar Where everyone Knows Your Ticker is where you want to go to get the scoop about the game, strategy and to talk to some of the originals that are familiar with the history of Empire Avenue.
This Facebook group was established (as well as the [X] Bar chat on Empire Avenue) to offer help and assistance for FREE in regards to all the various Empire Avenue mechanics, as well as further collaboration and communication for the overall social good.
Team Zen is led by Frédéric Dénommé who will amaze you with his choices, tips and hot stocks. This group also has one of the largest and most successful Empire Avenue based group, also named Team Zen . If you need tips, statistics on ROI, High Divs selection, n00b investment choices, there is no better place.
The Newest Group is Empire Avenue #TweetChats and is a Twitter driven chat group created by Tom Cooley.
This Facebook group and the associated Empire Avenue community– are set up with the purpose of supporting each other in hashtag chats on Twitter. Post ’em when you host ’em! Let us know and we’ll try to show. See my blog post for more details: http://bit.ly/EAvChat

I did not use to be a fan of Twitter, because I was like what the HECK can I talk about in 140 Characters or less. Also who really cares what the Hell I would Have to say in 140 Characters or less. Then who the hell would follow me anyway. :-) Then I merged a small Promo Products company into a full fledged Marketing Company after getting my Masters Degree in Internet Marketing and stared to take another look at Twitter.
I read constantly about how Twitter has to be a part of a marketing plan. I started to take a look at Twitter and realized the brilliance of using this avenue to talk to people. I still view social media as a conversation and an avenue to talk to people about things that I like, and most importantly things that they have an interest in. So to me Twitter became an essential part of my day, I talk to colleagues, friends and make amazing connections. So now I when I get a notice that says, LL cool J is following you (oops wrong post LOL ) seriously…When I get a notice that say Joe Smith is Following you I now longer ask, “why?” LOL
With all of that said, there are some do’s and don’ts of Twitter.
- Think about what you include in your Bio.
- Thing about information that you share.
- Don’t spam your message.
Don’t let Twitter get your fired, either. Take a look at the video below, it’s one of my favorites about Twitter.
Twitter is a great business tool if used properly and can create avenues of great opportunities for businesses, especially small businesses. If you are on Twitter Follow Me
As usual, if you have any questions or comments, good, bad, ugly or indifferent feel free to share them here or on my Facebook Wall!
When I worked for a large organization we had what seemed like millions of meetings. I always viewed them as a waste of time, excruciatingly BORING and very time consuming. To me it seemed as if the big cheeses needed to substantiated whatever it was that they were doing by meeting and discussing it. In the meantime, ummmm…I had work to do.
So, in an increasingly technology connected world and global workforce it would seem that tradition meetings would be the first thing to be deemed obsolete and replaced with a more logical way of meeting. That would within a virtual world like Second Life. I have been having meeting in Second Life for over two years now and they are very effective and they allow you to multitask while meeting. Win-win!
To one up that, is there even a need for a physical office anymore? We are so global, the workforce has become virtual and computing is going to the cloud. Why not just scrap the traditional office? It would be the logical thing to do. What do you think?
As usual, I welcome thought and comments, good, bad, ugly or indifferent. So feel free to post here, grab me on Twitter or post directly on my Facebook Wall
In my excitement about so many aspects of Social Media I constantly share many things. All of which I have been told by friends, clients and followers that the information is of value to them. It is very important that your content does not suck and that your content is king. I usually create at least one original Internet Marketing/Social Media related blog post, one original QR code Marketing blog post every day and the rest of the information isshared & curated.
In my excitement, yesterday I shared a particularly exciting tweet about the influx of known Social Media Experts that are venturing into Empire Avenue and enjoying the game tremendously. As a founding member of the unofficial hub of Empire Avenue, #SocialEmpire I am very excited to see the growth and excitement about this game. #SocialEmpire has a growing presence by way of Facebook Group, Facebook Page, and Stock Tip Group directly on Empire Avenue. The group members and founders of this group are very excited about Empire Avenue and we are more excited that it has brought together some of the most brilliant social media and Internet marketing experts, unknown and known that we’ve ever come across.
I digressed a bit, but this particular tweet landed in one of my networks and I had someone ask the question “Is this game like Farmville?” I responded with an explanation that I thought effectively explained the goals of the game and led them to my blog post, Empire Avenue: No Farmville. The return response in a nutshell accused some social media professionals with being narcissists, I assumed that it directed at me as well. Or maybe not? Would it be narcissistic of me to assume that I am important enough to actually be full of myself? Makes you say Hmmmm..huh?
After my initial response of “Whatchoo talkin’ bout Willis? ” I started to really think about narcissism, then I Googled it.
WELL, I honestly don’t think I am a narcissist or that others in this profession that I’ve talked to, collaborated with and developed relationships with are either. I do however believe that some people do indeed take things to serious and should really lighten up an enjoy life. This is after all about being social, that’s what we do right? Social interaction is all a matter of choice and as individuals we go with what avenue best fits us.
More importantly the people that feel as if a game such as Empire Avenuepromotes narcissist are probably the people that are NOT on their A-game, that are the self proclaimed Gurus and Wizards of Social Media. It could be that Empire Avenue may flush out the the Social Media Gurus and separate them from those that are really on their Social Media game even, Narcissistic though they may be.
As usual, I welcome comments good, bad, ugly or indifferent and today I welcome them from narcissistic people, self proclaimed gurus and regular peeps. :-P So feel free to comment here or on my Facebook Wall.
P.S. Don’t be “Scured” Self proclaimed Social Media Gurus, Empire Avenue may help you engage your social media channels more effectively. We all have room for professional growth…..so jump in and more importantly, have fun!
