We tend to be so caught up in the every day grind of work, school, kids, kids in school, summer vacation and just living life to really pay attention to the things that are going on around us. Face it, life can be tough and full of things to do and even some challenges.

One of the things that we should stop and pay attention to is the change that is happening right before our eyes. These changes will play a huge role in the future of the work place. I believe that traditional corporate workplaces are running very close to outliving their usefulness.  Primarily because this world is becoming a very global world due to the explosive growth of technology.

Three things that are changing the traditional work place right now are.

Social Networking:
Social Networking has literally taken the world by storm  and people are quite frankly still trying to catch up. In the meantime the beat goes on and this technology is playing a huge role in changing so many industries. The Advertising, Marketing and IT industries have been effected by Social Media more than any other industry.  At one time there were entire marketing departments for print, ads, layouts, materials etc.  Social Media has changed this so much because traditional media and marketing channels are just NOT the route to go anymore. With this super quick transition to Social Media Marketing, companies now have to take a look at the need to even have in-house marketing and advertising teams anymore. Social Media Consultants, in some situations have taken the place of traditional marketing departments. The average Social Media Consultant works from home, so this minimizes the need for an in-house marketing staff substantially

Mobile Technology:
Mobile Technology is one of the fastest growing technologies in the Web 2.0 age.  Mobile phones allow people to be just that, MOBILE. This too, minimizes the need for in house workers in the traditional corporate office setting. It also allows employers to extend their talent reach beyond just one regional area. Mobile Technology literally allows employers to created a global workforce.

The Cloud
Cloud Technology further minimizes the need for employees in a traditional office because of the ability of contractors or employees to tap into a cloud based computer system.
These are just some of the things that are moving us away from the traditional corporate workplace to a more global non traditional, mobile workforce. What do you think? Do you think that we are ready for these kind of changes? Will traditional workplaces be able to adapt? Is this a temporary thing?
