We all respect, admire and hold Google up on a very VERY high pedestal because we all know that Google RAWKS on ice. However there have been some people yelling that Web 3.0 is here and it’s Google+. Umm I would say NO on that, negative, nada, no dice. Get the point. Don’t get me wrong, I am a lover of Google and I really believe that they have really outdone themselves with Google+ considering the not so successful attempts at a Social Platform in past. I do not however think that Google+ IS WEB 3.0.
If we just stopped a minute to think about that, just think about the term WEB 3.0. YES, WEB 3.0 not Google+ 3.0. Although Google is quite huge especially right now, they ARE NOT the entire WEB so it is impossible for Google+ to be considered WEB 3.0 or the Semantic Web as it is being called.
Although we are really moving quickly toward WEB 3.0 we are not there. Google plus is a Social Media platform and does not encompass the entire Web. I believe that Google will play a huge role in Web 3.0 as they have in Web 1.0 and now Web 2.0 which is the social aspect of computing. However there will be many other players in the emergence of Web 3.0. Simply put Web 3.0 or the Semantic web will allow different forms of technology to communicate which will create a more “intelligent” Web.
Web 3.0 or Semantic Web defined.
The Semantic Web is a vision: the idea of having data on the Web defined and linked in a way that it can be used by machines not just for display purposes, but for automation, integration and reuse of data across various applications. …
